French Press

French Press Coffee & Tea

A simple, cozy way to make coffee or tea during your stay.

A Little History

The French press has roots in 1800s France, where early coffee press designs used a plunger-style filter to separate coffee grounds from the brew. The version most similar to the French press we use today was later patented by Italian designers Attilio Calimani and Giulio Moneta in 1929. Today, it is loved for its simple design, rich flavor, and slow morning ritual.

French Press Coffee

What You’ll Need

French press
Ground coffee
Hot water
Spoon
Mug

Step 1: Add Coffee

Add 2 tablespoons of ground coffee per 1 cup of water.

For a fuller French press use about 6–8 tablespoons of coffee, depending on how strong you like it.

Step 2: Add Hot Water

Heat water until hot but not boiling.

Pour the hot water over the coffee grounds.

Step 3: Stir & Steep

Gently stir the coffee.

Place the lid on top and let it steep for 4 minutes.

Step 4: Press Slowly

Slowly press the plunger down until the coffee grounds are at the bottom.

Step 5: Pour & Enjoy

Enjoy it as-is for a stronger cup, add hot water for a smoother coffee, or make it your own with any creamer, sweetener, or flavoring you bring along.

For the best taste, pour all the coffee out after brewing so it does not continue to steep.
